Significant Surfaces
Andrea Meislin Gallery, 526 West 26th Street, #214, New York
September 7–September 24, 2010
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 11, 6:00–8:00 pm

Significant Surfaces: Selections from the ICP Class of 2010 is about the manifold ways in which surfaces—mainly photographs and screens but also skin, paper, mirrors, walls—signify: they carry visual information which is immediately accessible, as well as deeper levels of meaning which depend on context and history. Curated by Marina Berio, Chair of the General Studies in Photography Program, the exhibition shows young artists using surfaces to parse their closest personal relationships by mining the imperfect layerings of memory or the simultaneously distant and intimate spaces of home, correspondence and the web.

Tribeca Open Artist Studio Tour (TOAST)
TOAST 2009 Will Take Place

Friday April 24, 5-8 PM
Saturday, April 25, 1-6 PM
Sunday, April 26, 1-6 PM
Monday, April 27, 1-6 PM

The TriBeCa Open Artist Studio Tour is a free, self-guided tour of approximately 100 artists' studios throughout TriBeCa. Bringing artists and the public together, it provides an opportunity for visitors to interact with the artists and see their artwork at the source, the artist’s own studio. An artist-run organization, TOAST has led a true metropolitan "grass roots" path. It began as an ad-hoc group of artists who wanted to revive a neighborhood art walk.
